2012 Grants

2012 News Release - PTMA Contributes to Numerous Recreation Institutions!

Race Director Jennifer Little announced financial awards are going to 6 youth groups and recreation institutions in the county. In the past surplus funds from the annual event supported high school track and cross-country programs, scholarships for youth attending athletic training camps, and supported various other high school athletic programs. 
  • Jefferson County Parks & Recreation $2,000.00
  • Port Townsend Cooperative Playschool $500.00
  • Jumping Mouse Children's Center $1,000.00
  • YMCA Building Futures $500.00 *to be used in South Jefferson County (Brinnon & Quilcene)
  • Sunfield Farm & Waldorf School $500.00
  • Port Townsend/Chimacum High School Cross Country Team $500.00

"We invite all community youth activity groups and schools to submit requests for support.

In addition to the grants, the association also raised $1159 for the Port Townsend Rhododendron Festival via voluntary contributions by race registrants.

"Our all-volunteer board continues to serve in the spirit of its mission, along with more than 300 other volunteers who deliver race day labor and services to the Rhody Run participants. The board members contribute their efforts year round in planning for the annual event. As with other community service groups that rely on contributed time and effort, the PTMA board members are neighbors in place right here in Jefferson County," Little notes.

Current PTMA board members include Anita Schmucker, Jill Buhler, Dick and Janet Giger, Mary Weeding, Char Wedlin, Todd Jensen, Dan Huntingford, Tanya Rublaitus, Jennifer Little, Eric Johnson, Gary Fell, Doug Pierce, Steve Taylor, John Nowak and Frank Garred
